Our story
Limelight Systems LLC was founded in early 2008 in response to the skyrocketing costs of fossil fuels. The company is devoted to researching and developing alternative fuel resources based on the electrolysis of water to produce hydrogen.
The brainchild of a long time serial entrepreneur who has long held the belief that hydrogen, the most plentiful element in the universe, holds the key to solving the world's energy problems, chose the name "Limelight Systems" to honor the early use of hydrogen to produce stage lighting in the early 1800's. The intense light was produced by directing a flame of hydrogen and oxygen at a cylinder of Calcium oxide. While having long since been replaced by electric lighting, someone in the public eye is still referred to as being "in the limelight."
Limelight Systems intends to remain "in the limelight" as a frontrunner of supplemental hydrogen technology to help reduce our dependency on fossil fuels for transportation and energy production needs.
With a small closely knit team of engineers and investors, work began
on developing a modular hydrogen generation kit that could be installed
on cars, trucks, vans and busses worldwide. Initial tests were very
promising with significant increases in fuel mileage and reduced emissions.
Early prototypes were soon refined and turned into production models.
Public reaction to the company's claims of up to a 50 percent increase in fuel mileage are usually initial skepticism turning to curiosity and then enthusiasm once they install one of the modular kits.
Continuing research and development into hydrogen production and hybrid technologies, the company hopes to one day produce a system that will power a vehicle without any dependency on fossil fuels.
